Tips on Buying Cars: New car Spare Tires, lincoln town car, spare tires

Question
I find it very inconvenient to only have a doughnut tire in the trunk in place of the normal spare tire. I understand that most manufacturers are replacing the normal spare for the doughnut type. Please tell me all new cars that are designed to offer a normal spare tire housed in the trunk.

Answer
The full-size spare is becoming a thing of the past.  In fact, ANY spare tire may be history in the near future; many manufacturers are offering run-flat tires, and eliminating the spare tire altogether.  I have to ask: why do you feel you need a full-sized spare tire?  I have a compact spare tire in my '96 Lincoln Town Car that came with the car, and it's never been out of the trunk.  People so rarely get flats any more that it's hard to justify the extra expense, weight and size of a full-sized spare.  If you get a lot of flats, getting a full-sized spare may not be the answer.  And I'm sorry , but I don't know anyone that has a list of ALL cars that offer full-sized spares; that's research you'll have to do on your own.  I can tell you that 99% of cars made today simply don't have room in the spare-tire well for a full-sized tire.  And if it won't fit in the well, then it's going to take up half your trunk space.  Wouldn't that be a lot more inconvenient than the one or two times in the future that you might have to change a tire?  Or should I say, when the auto club (either AAA or the auto-manufacturer provided roadside assistance) has to come out and change the tire?
