Tips on Buying Cars: Category C cars, c cars, category c

Question
Hi

Hi

I am considering purchasing a category C car (previously written off but now repaired and back on the road).  I am obviously buying this at a much cheaper price and the dealer has been up front about the damage and repairs.  Do I have to declare this to the insurance company and will it affect the premium to insure the car?

Many thanks

Kind regards

Jo

Answer
I guess you are referring to what most states call rebuilt salvage.  It will not affect the premiums but the insurance company will only sell liability coverage on such a vehicle.  It should be declared.  Unless you know a good bit about vehicles, I recommend staying away from prior salvage.  If you do still decide to buy it, do no pay more than 50 of the normal retail price.

Good luck!
