Tips on Buying Cars: Category C cars, c cars, category c
QuestionHi
Hi
I am considering purchasing a category C car (previously written off but now repaired and back on the road). I am obviously buying this at a much cheaper price and the dealer has been up front about the damage and repairs. Do I have to declare this to the insurance company and will it affect the premium to insure the car?
Many thanks
Kind regards
Jo
AnswerI guess you are referring to what most states call rebuilt salvage. It will not affect the premiums but the insurance company will only sell liability coverage on such a vehicle. It should be declared. Unless you know a good bit about vehicles, I recommend staying away from prior salvage. If you do still decide to buy it, do no pay more than 50 of the normal retail price.
Good luck!
