Tips on Buying Cars: used cars, comaro, exact configuration

Question
hello Ron i recently started looking into getting a used car. i found a nice 95 comaro for 5200 which for the age and price doesn't work in my favor because i called around and were told the age is too old and the price was too low.. i don't want to commit myself to a 7500 loan especially for car thats only 5200 after tax. my credit isn't perfect but its not bad either so i was wondering if you can provide me with any information regarding what to do on this situation.

Answer
Hey Terrell,

Thanks for your question. I'm not sure I have the details right and would like you to clarify one thing for me before I give you the best answer I can.

The seller (dealer?) is asking $5,200 for the '95 Camaro, correct?
If so, I'm not sure why you need a loan for $7,500, and not $5,200 plus tax.

Not knowing the exact configuration, prices I'm finding online with an average of 92,000 miles for this year car are close to $5,200 from a dealer, about $3,500 from a private owner.

Give me a quick update on the $7,500 and I'll be back to you ASAP.

Ron
