Tips on Buying Cars: $85.00 car key??, raise hell, car key

I bought a Ford Focus 2003 from the dealer just now and wanted an extra key and they said they didn't have it but a key place makes them for $85.00..That is OUTRAGEOUS..it is has some chip inside the key but what is that for?  Is there anyplace I can get a key made for less than ten dollars? Thankx..

85.00 is the going rate..there is a chip in it that keeps the car from being "hotwired"...if the chip isnt present the fuel pump will not turn on making it impossible to drive the car away..if you just bought it they should supply you with two keys.if they didnt give you two id raise hell with the manager,the dealer should pay for that.....my friend had a 2000 cougar and they charged her 99.00 for a third key....be glad you didnt buy a mercedes those are going for 150.00 and up...
