Tips on Buying Cars: Rethinking, depth details, negative equity

Question
Hi there. 3 months ago I bought a used truck from a dealership. It was my first car so I was pretty excited. After talking for awhile, we set out my payment plan and I figured I could handle it. Now, a few months into it, the payments are breaking me financially and I am looking to get a different car that has less payments. My only problem is that I still owe around $13,000 for the loan, and my truck is only valued at somewhere near $8000-9000. What would be the best advice to help me out?

Thanks,
Matthew J. Kelly

Answer
Hi Matthew
I wish i had some more details how you can be around $5000. negative equity after only 3 months
The problem with you getting a less expensive vehicle even if the lender could include the negative your payments most likely would not be less

Phone the lender be up front, see if you can get a longer term to lower your payments
How is your credit score ?
If you want to give me some in-depth details i will see if there is another solution...if you reply check the private box
