Tips on Buying Cars: Test Drive, road time, drivers licence

What is the standard policy of a test drive, like the time and location? What happens if you just drive off or damage the car? Anything I need to know about test driving please tell me.

At most dealers the salesperson will copy your drivers licence and go along for a test drive, its very rare a dealer will ask if you have current insurance...the dealer is covered fully but should an accident happen will try to get your insurance involved if you have insurance to avoid policy increase down the road...

Time and location can be anywhere anytime as per arrangement you made with salesperson
