Hi Ray,
Thanks for the quick response!
Here is a little time line that outlines the series of events.

DECEMBER 7th:
The dealer was to install the navigation system and Sirius radio...but all parts were not available....so the car would have to taken back in the following week to do the install.

DECEMBER 16th
The parts are in to do the install. Navigation system and Sirius radio are installed.

DECEMBER 17th
Car is picked up at 7pm...it is dark out.

DECEMBER 18th
I now notice the damage done to the roof of the car when the antenna was installed...and call the dealership.

DECEMBER 20th
Car is returned to the dealership to repair damage and address a small list of other "issues". A dentless repairman is engaged to fix the problem

DECEMBER 22nd
Car is picked up at noon. Dark and overcast outside.

DECEMBER 23rd
Sun light reveals that the a problem still exists. I call the dealership. Service manager states that the next step is to paint. Because of the holidays..it is agreed to deal with this after the new year. Which brings us up to date.

Once again...the damage is very subtle. But I know it is there. And it will be there for as long as I own this car. And that makes me mad. The more that I think about it...the more it angers me that the guy that originally installed the antenna HAD TO KNOW what he had done.

As far as the dealer offering any compensation...they have not. The only thing they have offered so far is the willingness to fix the problem.

Thanks so much for your opinion Ray!

I have a situation...and would appreciate your thoughts and advice.
We bought a new Chrysler 300 about three weeks ago.
We had the dealer install Sirius radio.
When they installed the antenna on the roof of the car....they caused some damage. An area about 8 inches in diameter surrounding the antenna is now dented / bent / or rippled.
The damage is subtle. But there is no question....it is there.
The dealer engaged a paintless dent repairman to see what he could do.
He was able to achieve some positive results...but it is still not perfect. The best way to describe the appearance now is ....it is flat, but not smooth.
I spoke with the dealership on Monday. It appears that the next step on resolution is to let the body repair guys take their turn. I was told by the service manager that they would probably shoot (paint) the entire roof of the car.
I have had two days to think about this....and I am not too happy about this at all.
Needless to say....it really ticks me off that my NEW car is in the body shop because of their mistake. I am not sure that I want them painting the roof of the car...because of the obvious reasons.
So my question is this.....what would you do? What demands or requests would you make? What is fair?
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim
Season Greetings
My expertise is getting fair value for your bucks when purchasing a vehicle...and how to negotiate...
But i will answer your Q as you asked what would i do...
If the damage was noted when you were first taking delivery...i would have demanded another car...
Before i go further i would like to know when you were first aware of the problem...
Having a vehicle with a re-paint roof will really damage its future value...has the dealer offered you, or have you asked for some sort of compensation
