Ok im 21 yr old student who is looking to buy my first car.  My credit isnt that bad but i want to make it better with making my car payments on time.  So what im thinking about doing is finding a car between 5,000-10,000 dollars and putting 5000 down on it and just making payments until I own it.  Does that sound like a good plan, if not what should I do

thanks

Hi Charon,
that is an excellent plan. A few questions though. Do you work? How much do you make a month? How long on the job?? Do you have any installment credit and credit cards?? If you have cards how long and what is the limit (not what is owed).....Answer these few questions for me and i will answer back!

sharon,
good...you might get computer scored, if you are putting 50% down that helps...where are you located??? If there is a CarMax in your area, they have a 1st time buyers program if you never had any degogatory credit.....it calls for only a 30% down payment which you have, for $10,000 you can get a very nice not too old auto..let me know what city you are in..

Answer
Charon,
look at www.carmax.com search vehicles $10,000 and under....As i said if yor credit is clean (no derogs), there 1st time buyers program will work.....either go in the store or call up and ask for an internet office consultant...let me know what happens, i think you will be pleasantly surprised!
