Tips on Buying Cars: Down to 2 cars., pontiac bonneville gxp, pontiac bonneville

Question
And it's either the Pontiac Bonneville GXP or the Chrysler 300M (We'll be buying new, but used car information is imho, quite helpful to let one know what to expect, however I prefer to buy new, because it makes studying causes for problems a bit easier. I've learned this the hard way.)

We'll be having four passengers mainly in the car. Myself, my husband and our two newborns (+strollers, bags, car seats etc. etc. etc...) I'm 6'3" and he's 6'8" and as it is a given for children to eventually dwarf their mothers, leg room is a consideration.
The Bonneville has very good crash ratings, and better milage, and a pretty decent head, chest and femur load compression numbers ( in the 300-500 lbs/ft range...Lower is better right?). On the down side, it's got a pretty good sized list of owner complaints and safety recalls.
With the 300M, it's a much better built car, little to no complaints or recalls on it, it's gotten the Car and Driver 10 best two or three times now, but I can't find much of anything  about it's crash data,  which quite frankly has me in reservations, and it doesn't list head compression, chest is very low (like 57 lbs/ft. or so) but femur looks painfully high (it's a four digit number.). Also, the milage is worse, as is the trunk space and the turning radius.  I don't know, the Bonneville sounds like far the better car, but I'm a little worried that there's an increased chance of getting a lemon with the Bonneville, whereas the 300M sounds like it won't give us any problems, and I like to keep cars until they are hoplessly dead.
Also, if a car doesn't have four doors, and a handbrake, and a sense of responsiveness in the pedals and chassis, I won't care for it either unless it really impresses me.

Answer
Hello Jacqueline,

Well, Pontiac has a better track history than Chrysler cars, and I'm sure that that the GXP has carried over this tradition. The GXB is personally sounds like it is a better match for you, but if you are still worried about the reliability of the vehicle, talk to others who have owned or own it now and ask them what their views are.

Take care,
Doug
