Question
about 4years ago my drivers licenses was due to be renewed but my eyesight disabled me but i needed an updated i.d. for my bank so i was forced to surrender my licenses. since then i have had surgery and can pass an eye exam so i need to get my licenses back but, here's the rub i have no car and no one else to depend on, my question is this can i legally purchase and finance a car in the state of ohio without having my licenses? thanks so much for your help.

Answer
Maxine, Thanks for your question. I'm happy your surgery was successful and I'm sure your very excited to be able to drive once again. Before anyone drives a vehicle they must be legally licensed by the state. Getting your new license takes priority and your first step on your "to do list" is to call the state or go online to the department of transportation for the necessary licensing forms.  While you apply and pass your licensing tests you can take this time to learn about which car you may want to purchase and watch for special sales or financing during this period. Once you've decided then call around to compare car insurance quotes. Since its the end of the 2010 model year there are many specials to consider if your looking for a new model. Remember, now that the 2011s are available a brand new 2010 is a one year old car and will be discounted. While most anyone can own a car its best to be licensed or have use for the vehicle before making a financial commitment to borrow money for a car loan. Obtain your license or find a driver before buying your car. Having a new car and monthly loan payments without being able to legally drive or use the car would be putting the cart before the horse.
