Tips on Buying Cars: car dilemna, civic value, magic wand

Question
Dear Ray,

Help!  I'm in a big mess with my car.  An ex purchased the car in his name, though I have made all of the payments, maintenance, etc.  I was told the car hod not been in any accidents.  I recently went to carfax to see about selling it and was told the car's front end had been completely rebuilt and that it compromised the frame greatly- enough to cut the resale value of the car in half!  It is a 2004 honda civic value sedan I got from a private party for 10,5 in 2007.  carmax offered me $4000- far less even than what is still owed!  i thought I was buying a quality car I could resell.  Who is to blame?  What can I do?

Answer
Hi April
The ex whom purchased the car is to blame,,, that person had no idea how to buy a car, it's part of the buying process to run a history report on any vehicle before purchase to check for accidents.

What can you do ?,,, Wish I could wave a magic wand to make your problem go away, but sorry you are stuck with the facts.

It's not kosher, but the party that sold you the car most likely knew about the accident, you could try selling the vehicle in same manner to another private party claiming no knowledge of history, however if the buyer has done any homework about buying a car the history report will come to light.

Selling to any dealership, the first step they take is running a history report, when your ready to shop for another vehicle, study my website for some pointers, anything that may appear confusing feel free to get back to me to ensure not ending up with another lemon.
