i sign the paper work for this car and i wanted to get it checked before i decided to buy it, they agreeded to me taking the car and getting it looked at my expensence.i did and the car have several things wrong with it and i don't want it. i stop payment on the check for the car. i am going to return it today. what can i do about this. I also went to another dealer and they told me that the dealer would take the car back and i sign for this car that i want with warrants but they are saying that i got to get the car but i never tool ownership of the car it is still a t the dealership. i need help.  i was looking on the on line and i came across this web site for the motor car trade act,good act and fair trading act. do this acts apply to us

Thanks for your question.  You made an agreement - hopefully in writing - and that agreement stated that you had the right to get the vehicle looked at by your mechanic and that was a subject of the sale.  If this was in writing and both you and the dealership signed the form, then you have every right to return the vehicle and get any monies due to you.  However, if that was just a verbal agreement, it would very hard to get a court of law to side with you on it, and it would be very expensive.

The acts that you are talking about don't really apply in this situation.  All that applies is the form that both you and the dealership should have signed saying what the sale was conditional on.  If this happened, then you are covered.
