Tips on Buying Cars: Salvaged Vehicle, salvage title, red flags

Question
I'm considering buying a 2004 Cheverolet Silverado 2500 HD-V8 Extended Cab LS 4WD - mileage 17,000 miles - asking price $14,900.  I have seen the truck and it appears in perfect condition.  The 2nd owner advised the truck had damage to the roof and the roof was replaced.  I did a carfax report and it returned that the truck was in an accident and salvaged 11/9/06 and the title was issued to the insurance company.

This owner purchased the truck 2/8/07 from a dealership.  Two questions:

1.  Does the truck need to pass tests in order to be resold after being salavaged?

2.  Is it safe to purchase this truck?

The report indicated that the manufacturer warranty was voided due to the accident.  This appears to be a good price, but I have never encountered a salvaged vehicle before.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Viola

The vehicle may appear in perfect condition, but it's what lies beneath that is the major problem in this case " SALVAGE

1,,, The truck does not need to pass tests being sold, it's being sold with a Salvage title as is.

2,,, Is it safe ?,,, you decide,,, go to this link on my website http://www.usedcartips.org/AUCTIONS.html   and scroll down to " should I buy a Salvage Car "

Viola, pursue the deal " NO "  when you find another vehicle of interest provide a link, and I will check for red flags, in the meantime study my website a little to ensure not having a lemon parked in your driveway.

Have a great day
