Tips on Buying Cars: RWD Vs AWD, bmw 525i, rwd car

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a BMW 525i which is a RWD car. The same series AWD is 525ix which is more expensive than the 525i. Is there that much difference in safety in driving a AWD car in severe winter conditions. I live in Philadelphia. Thanks very much for your help.

There is no question the AWD is a better choice especially with the type of road conditions in your area, if your pocketbook can afford the extra coin you will be paying for the AWD go for it.

As for safety allow me to explain in a different manner,,, a FWD in severe winter conditions is like walking on a slippery sidewalk,,, add salt and your traction improves 100% that's AWD.
