Tips on Buying Cars: 1999 Audi A6 2.8L Gas, independent mechanical inspection, deep pockets

Hello Ray, I'm considering buying a used 99 audi a6 2.8L gas. Its got about 260,000 kms on it. Its had a single owner and is on sale for $4500CAD.
What are the things I must look out for? What are the known issues with this model?..

Is there something in particular that I should look for in this car?

Do you think its a good buy? or would you suggest a used 1999 mercedes c230 with about 200k kms on it as an alternative?

You got expensive taste with cars, lol,with excellent choices, the Km's or being 11 years old don't bother me. But should either vehicle encounter mechanical issues after purchase you better have a deep pockets as parts and labor will be costly, a factor that would make me stay away unless an independent mechanical inspection came through 100% as shown on this link on my website    http://www.usedcartips.org/MECHANI.html

As for known issues, there may have been some, but these cars with over 200K has long passed the tests being lemons
