Tips on Buying Cars: surrendering a leased car, nissan motor acceptance, surrender fee

Question
Hi, I leased a nissan rogue yesterday for 36 months.  i just noticed in the contract that there is a 300$ fee at the end of the lease for returning the car.  I've never heard of such a thing...it wasn't for early return or damages, just a surrender fee upon return of the vehicle at the end of the lease.  is this standard????  if not, i'm going back to the dealer to work this out with them today!

Answer
Sahar,

Thanks for your question.  That is a standard fee that almost ALL manufactures charge to turn in a vehicle.  The dealership has NOTHING to do with it.  That is a fee that is charged by Nissan Motor Acceptance, not the dealership.  It is very, very common on all leases to charge a termination fee.  Sometimes its $150 and sometimes it is $500, depending on the lender.  Nissan does charge a $300 termination fee.  It is a fee that is charged to everyone that leases a car, not just you.

Hope this helps.  Enjoy your Rogue.

Thanks - JB
