Tips on Buying Cars: returning a car, returning a car, dealership management

Question
I bought a used car a few days ago and didn't inspect it yet. after I bougt this car I realized that a seller lied to me about size of the engine and it is actually smaller that he said it is. unfortunatelly, the bill of sale dosn't say the size of engine. now, if the car wouldn't pass the inspection is the seller required to take the car back? or would he only have to fix the problem? is there any other way to return the car or at least get the price difference back for smaller engine? I'm from Massachusetts.thank you for your answer.

Answer
Lidia,

Thanks for your question.  Unfortunately, there isn't much that you can do.  You can appeal to the dealership management and explain the situation and tell them that the vehicle isn't what you agreed to buy.  Whether they actually do something about it, is up to them.  As far as the inspection, they are only required to make it right, and get it to pass inspection at no charge to you.

Hope this helps.

Thanks - JB
