Tips on Buying Cars: Buying a low priced old car, decent deal, old used car

Question
Hello,
I am trying to get an old used car in the range of $2000-
$3000 ( I am a student). If I get a car from a dealership
that gives me a car in that range, obviously with
reasonably high miles and my research shows that the value
they are offering is in the same ballpark that in KBB,
should I get it after test driving it. Are there till any
scope of bargaining with the salesperson to lower the
price. How to bargain  at this price range and what to look
for?

Answer
Channa,

Thanks for your question.  You can always bargain for a lower price.  The dealership has the right to make a profit, but you have a right to find the best deal possible.  If after driving the car, you like it, sit down and discuss the price of the car with the salesperson and make him and offer.  He will go to his manager as they will come back to you at a little lower number than originally.  You can continue to go back and forth or you can choose to take the deal.  Remember, if you like the car, and it is in your price range and you feel like you are getting a decent deal on the vehicle, then the ball is in your court.

Hope this helps.

Thanks - JB
