Tips on Buying Cars: Buying and driving a car in the USA as a foreigner, dear paul, proper answer

Dear Paul,

As a non resident of the USA can I buy a new car (Payed cash), drive it for over 1 year on regular holydays and then ship it abroad. What about insurance (pay in advance no problem) and what is my price? Do I pay state tax and/or is that refundable?

Your question needs more detail for me to give you a proper answer, but from what information you did provide here are some points to consider.

 If your considering buying brand new some auto makers prohibit their U.S. dealers from selling vehicles for export or to non residents

Also if I knew the country you were shipping to I could be more specific as every country has very different regulations when it comes to importing vehicles.
