Tips on Buying Cars: Buying a Chevy Aveo5, sign documents, finance companies

Question
I have horrible credit and my boyfriend wants to co-sign but he has never established credit. Would it be better to go through the dealer or an actual bank for a loan? Also, if I have started on the paperwork for a car am I able to switch the type of the car if I changed my mind?

For instance I still want the Aveo5 but they have one in stock now that is the color I wanted and had better amenities for a cheaper price, can I change it?

Answer
Hi Dana, When you have credit issues the dealer has certain vehicles they can put you on. You may not be able to switch as the other one may not qualify for the program they need to put you on. Ask them though, until you sign documents the deal is not done.

You will be able to get financing at a dealer before you could a bank. They have special finance companies that will help you establish your credit.

Good Luck,
Shari
