Tips on Buying Cars: Buying a used Jaguar, jaguar dealer, mile warranty

Question
"I am wanting to purchase a used Jaguar. Currently, I can buy a 2005 with 24K miles for 18,100.00 or a 2006 with 36K miles for 19,000.00 The Jag comes with a standard 4 yr. / 50K mile warranty. Which of these would be my best route to go. My other option would be to purchase a Jag via an auction. What are your thought on this."

Answer
Choosing between them depends on how many miles per year you'll be putting on the car, and how long that means the warranty will last.  The warranty is crucial, because we are talking about a Jaguar here.  (Someone once said that a Jaguar is the ultimate status symbol, because it tells the world that not only can you afford one of those, but you own at least one other good car you drive those 300 days out of the year when the Jaguar is in the shop...)  Purchasing a Jaguar at auction is NOT an option.  In fact, buying anything other than a certified pre-owned European model in the U.S. is far too much of a risk to take.  Way too many lemon-law buybacks, salvage cars, wrecks, repos, etc...  If it's not from a Jaguar dealer, I personally wouldn't go near it.
