Question
I am eighteen years old, have 7,000 dollars down for a car, no credit history... but am wanting a car payment for the remaining 6000, am I likely to qualify? Thanks for the help
Ive heard of first time buyer programs but how first time buyer??

Answer
Well - to answer your question... It will depend on your credit history AND your debt to income ratio... if you make a ton of money.. you may qualify without any history - but more than likely you will need a cosigner...

and to give some advice... if you have 7000 cash for a car... spend 7000 cash for a car... don't finance at your age.. smart people stay out of debt minus a mortgage... that 7000 can buy a darn nice civic that will get you though college - and will easily last 4 to 10 years... the last thing you want is to be 6 grand in debt at your age. I graduated HS with a decent amount of cash in the bank - paid cash for my car - and let me tell you - it is really nice not having a car payment to worry about. Just some words from experiece - I'm not THAT much older than you - I've been there - most of my friends are still paying for that car they bought out of Highschool... I used the money I didn't spend on a car payment to modify my car.. and buy a motorcycle...

Just something to think about...
