Tips on Buying Cars: Minivan purchase..., honda oddysey, chrysler town and country

Question
Hello,
We are getting set for our 3rd child in about 2 months so the time has come to purchase another vehicle, a minivan, that will fit all 3 comfortably. Our 99 Park Ave just doesn't have that kind of room, neither does my 93 S10 Blazer. We have searched and searched and come to the fact that the Honda Oddysey is the all around most liked, best everything. There are 2nds that are close like the Sienna, grand voyager, Hundai, Kia etc. My question is; Can you give us any advice on what to get that will give us alot of room and is the safest minivan out there while being affordable? We haven't decided used or new yet. But as far as I'm concerned, the safety issue would be paramount for me. It is always a matter of $$ since not many have that much to throw around. So, what would be some good picks and how could we lean the price out when discussing with a dealer about a new or used vehicle? Thanks very much.

Answer
Hi Mike,

Congratulations on your up and coming third child.

I would highly recommend either the Dodge Caravan or the Chrysler Town and Country. Both vans are in a class by themselves in the safety arena.

Remember, Mopar is the original designers of the mini-van. Either one of these vans will give you miles and miles of safety and economical sense.

I would shop for either the new (with a ton of incentives) or the Certified Used Vans. Both will come with a lot of warranty coverage.

Good luck, and I hope this helps!

Doug
