Tires: Tire size, 2004 grand cherokee, stock tires

Question
I just purchased a used 2004 Grand Cherokee limited. I would like to replace stock tires(235/65/17)with a larger A/T tire. I'm looking at 245/70/17 What tire size would you recommend.

Answer
Kelly,

I'm reasonably sure a 245/70R17 won't fit, because Discount Tire doesn't list that tire size on their web site:

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/tirePlusSizes.do?v=008422%7C2004&r=NCCINT%7Cpc%

They do list other sizes - and I would think it would be best for you to find a combination of tire size and what's available in that size that suits what you are trying to accomplish.

Just remember that some of these sizes are going to affect the speedometer.  If that is a concern, you should stick with the stock size.
