Tires: 2001 Pathfinder tires, 4wd system, tire diameter

Hi,

Have 2001 Pathfinder LE 4WD/AWD, needing 2 front tires.  Two in back Avon Rangers are fine, but no longer imported, I am told.  Am told by Town Fair that I must buy a full set of four to avoid damage to the 4WD system, is this correct?  Is there any other tire that would be compatible with the two good tires.  Any help is appreciated.

AWD and 4X4 systems are sensitive to differences in tire diameter.  To ensure that the drivetrain doesn't bind up ( and later fail) ii is recommended  to always install 4 identical tires - identical meaning same size, same make, same model, same amount of wear.  That is the only way to be sure the drivetrain will continue to function.
