Tires: Old Trailer tire replacement, st205 75r15, inflation pressure

Question
Tires: Old Trailer tire replacement, st205 75r15, inflation pressure
trailer
Hi Barry thanks for your time and expertise! I just bought an old 1971 Scotty (11 foot camping trailer). The tire size on it is 7.35-15. What should I look for when replacing these tires? Radials? Bias? Load rating? I want it to be safe and pull smooth, it looks by the wheel well that I could go a little bigger and wider if necessary. Also do they still make this size? Help!
Thanks Pal

Answer
Steven,

There may be some place that makes tires of this size, but a better bet would be to change.  My best guess as to what will fit is ST205/75R15.

But before you go there, you should make sure of what the old tire said for inflation pressure and load carrying capacity.  This is very important because you don't want to have a load related tire failure.

The other thing to check is how much room is available.  You are going to need 3/8" on each side and a half inch in the center.  remember that this is when the suspension on the trailer is fully compressed.
