Tires: tire size, dodge calliber, odometer readings

Question
my car is a 2010 Dodge Calliber and the tires that are on there are 215 60 R17  can I put 215 65 R 17 on there in snow tires?  Will going from a 60 to a 65 make a difference, is there enough clearance or will they rub?

Answer
Dear Susie,
Thank you for using AllExperts!
According to my data, the  (P)215/65R17 will be nearly 0.90" larger in diameter vs. the (P)215/60R17 tires on your car.  This is outside of the generally recommendable diameter limits for replacement tires and may exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations. The larger diameter tires will also give you inaccurate speedometer and odometer readings.  As for rubbing, it is possible.
I would recommend that you stay with the original size that came on your car.
Hope this helps!
