Tires: tires, michelin hydroedge, ed ed

Question
Hi
I have an 04 Camry SE with a set of Michelin HydroEdge on them. They are a few years
old; not sure exactly how many miles are on them. Maybe 20k? Anyway, the last 3 or
4 times I rotated them, they told me to just go straight "front to back".

I just replaced the brake pads Saturday and decided to rotate them in the "X" pattern.
Now the car rides a little rough and veers slightly to the left. My question is do I ride
the storm out and wait until they adjust again or do I put them back to where they
were?  I don't want to have to pay for an alignment if in fact this new configuration is
going to throw anything out of whack.

Thanks!
Ed

Answer
Ed,

Swap the front tires side to side as a test.

If the pull changes direction, then it's the tires.

If the pull doesn't change at all, then it's the alignment.

If it's somewhere in between, then it is both the tires and the alignment - and you'll have to make a decision from there.
