ANSWER: Tori,

1)  How much air psi should a P235/75R15 tire have? I have a 1999 chevy blazer.

Answer:  On every vehicle sold in the US – and I am told this is worldwide, but I have not been able to verify this - there is a sticker – commonly called the tire placard - that lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box – but sometimes it is located in the trunk or on the fuel filler door.

BTW, it doesn't matter who makes the tire or what pressure is listed on the tire's sidewall, if the tire size is the same as the placard, then the pressure listed on placard is also appropriate.

One word of caution:  Some trucks use tires with the letters "LT" in front of the tire size - and some trucks use tires with the letter "P" in front of the tire size - and some trucks use tires with the letter "C" after the tire size.  You should not use "P"'s in place of "LT"'s and vice versa.

You should be sure the pressure on the sidewall equals or exceeds that pressure on the placard.  If you do this the issue about the letter "C" in the sidewall will take care of itself (which is not true with "LT"'s vs "P"'s.)

If you are using a tire size that is different than what is listed on the placard, then the pressure has to be recalculated.  The calculation is not difficult, but it requires tire load tables which are not allowed to be published in the Internet because of copyright laws.  However, I have a copy and would be glad to do the calculation, but the starting point is the vehicle placard: Tire size and inflation pressure.  I will also need to know the new tire size.

2)  Also, are the Lexington ES-335  50,000 mile, tires a good brand?

Answer:  I'm sorry, but I work for a major manufacturer of tires and shouldn't make brand specific comments.

3)  Can you tell me if an estimate I got for an alignment is on the up and up?

Answer:  No.  My expertise is in tires, not vehicles.

QUESTION: I rate this as great! Quick response. Lots of info. Willing to go extra mile! This is the info. I have,  (BTW, it is a 4-wheel drive)
tire: P235/70R15  SPEED RATING: S   15X7J  PAYLOAD: 1095 LBS.
NEW TIRES: P235/75R15 LEXINGTON ES-335 50,000 MILE.
CAN I GET THE INFO. TO THE OTHER QUESTIONS, I ASKED YOU FROM, SOMEONE ELSE ON THIS WEBSITE? Again, thank you for the quick response. Have a great day.

Answer
Tori,

If the original tires were P235/70R15, then according to Tire Guides, the inflation pressure listed on the vehicle tire placard should say 35 psi.  Please check to make sure this is coorect as what I am about to write will be wrong, if that is wrong.

In order to carry the same load as a P235/70R15 does at 35 psi, a P235/75R15 needs to use 31 psi.

And I can't speak for the other volunteers on this web site as to whether they will answer your questions or not.
