Tires: Proper psi, toyo proxes, stock tires

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2008 Dodge Charger, with after market Tires and rims. 225\45R20 105v,  max.50psi, what would the correct psi be? I have heard 5 different answers from family and friends.  The door sticker of course has the correct psi for the previous stock tires which is P215\65R17, 30psi

ANSWER: Debbie,

At 30 psi, a P215/65R17 has a load carrying capacity of 1535#.  In order to carry the same load, a 225/45R20 needs to use ...... ah ........ Mmmmmm .....

Are you sure about the tire size?  I don't find any listing anywhere for that size.

QUESTION: I looked again and I'm positive. Lol 255\45R20M. They are Toyo Proxes S\T. Leave it to me to have something unusual. Lol if it helps it says, Maxload 2039lbs. At 50psi Max.press.

Answer
Debbie,

I always do a reality check to see if everything makes sense.  So when I put in the tire size you originally posted - 225/45R20 - that's when I got "No tires available".  But the new size - 255/45R20 makes sense and there are tires in that size.

Based on that, I calculate that to carry the same load, you would need to use 28 psi.
