Tires: Tires for 99Chevy 1500, chevy silverado, range c

Question
I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500  with  255/70 R16 tires.  I would like to put  75.0 R16 LT  tires on it..   Do you see any
problems with this?

Answer
TD,

Yes.  A P255/70R16 has an overall diameter of 30.1", a width of 10.2" on a 7½" rim, and a load carrying capacity of 2271# at 35 psi, and when used on a light truck (such as a pickup) has to have its load carrying capacity reduced 10% to 2065#.

A 7.50R16LT has an overall diameter of 31.8", a width of 8.7" on a 6" rim, and a load carrying capacity of 2040# at 50 psi (Load Range C), 2470# at 65 psi (Load Range D, and 2755# at 80 psi (Load Range E).

So not only is the tire 1 3/4" larger in diameter, it also has to use 15 psi more to carry the same load.
