Tires: Tire Pressure, correct tire pressure, side tires

Question
Barry:

My correct tire pressure is 30psi Front & Rear.  I park my car in my driveway where the passenger side is in the Sun, and the driver side is in the shade.  I recently went to check my tire pressure (as I do regularly) and the driver side (which is shaded) was at 30psi, where the passenger side (in the sun) was at 32psi.  The tires on the passenger side did feel a little warmer than the driver side tires, but I was wondering if this is something normal, or if I should lower the 32psi tires down to 30psi?

If you need to know, I drive a 2005 Monte Carlo with P225/60R-16 Tires.

Thank you,
Michael

Answer
Michael,

This is normal.

Tires, because they are black, absorb some of the heat from the sun.  This raises the temperature of the tires in the sun, and not the ones in the shade.

What you should do is set your pressure before they have a chance to heat up.
