Tires: Torque Wrench, torque wrenches, ford taurus lx

Question
Hi,

I would like to change my own summer/winter tires.  Do I really need a torque wrench or can I simply use a socket wrench?  If not, what brand name torque wrench do you recommend? I own a 2000 Ford Taurus LX, 215/60R/16.

Answer
SK,

No you don't need a torque wrench, but it assures that you have properly torqued the lug nuts, so they won't fall off, and not so tight they break the bolts.

Besides, torque wrenches are fairly inexpensive.

Even a cheap one will work, but needless to say, more expensive torque wrenches are more for the tradesman, but are really rugged.  But I don't have enough experience to say which is best.
