Tires: h vs v tires, 2007 toyota camry, toyota camry

Question
i have a 2007 toyota camry LE (4 cyl). have 32K miles and was told i need new tires. getting price estimates that are all over the map. in order to keep price reasonable i was told bt one dealer that i can get the H rating instead of V (original tire). He is a reputable dealer and recommended the Firestone Champion HR to stay within my price range. Is it ok to go to "H". will it change the ride? performance? any thoughts on this particular tire. getting overwhelmed with the different brands
thank you

Answer
Randy,

The differences in performance characteristics of tires are quite wide - wider than the difference between H and V speed ratings.  So it's difficult to say what will happen.

But directionally, this is towards a softer ride with a loss of grip and steering crispness.
