Tires: Tire Inflation Pressure, inflation pressure, tire inflation

Question
I just recently purchased a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab 1500 4wd.  The seller had already installed LT 265/75/16 load range E tires on the truck.  The tires have less than 2000 miles on them.  The placard on the door jam says to use p265/75/16.  I know that the tires are overrated for the truck, but will they work or am I in the position that I should buy tires that are rated for the truck.  I have read and searched on the web site to find someone with a similar predicament, but other post I have found concerned C or D rated LT tires.

Answer
Haywood,

I am not a fan of using LT metrics in place of P metyrics - and vice versa.  But many folks are and the seem to like them.

However, according to the charts, you have to use 15 psi more to get the same load carrying capacity.

BTW, whether the tires are Load Range C , D, or E, the problem is the same.
