Tires: different wheels size on a car, 16 inch rims, emergency maneuvers

Question
Hello Barry, I bought a 1997 Honda Accord and the front and back wheel sizes are different. All 4 rims look identical in style and design, but the front wheels are 15's with 205/65/15 tires on them and the back wheels are 16's with 205/50/16 tires on them, so they are pretty much the same in overall diameter. My wife hit a curb really hard and bent one of the rims in the front so I bought another 15 inch rim for the front. So the 2 rims in the front do not match. How will all these mis-match rims effect the performance of my car. Should I get 2 matching 16 inch rims for the front, or should replace all 4 rims. I really dont want to replace all 4 rims considering the car is 12 years old.

Answer
David,

Having an odd tire tends to make the car want to pivot around the odd tire in emergency maneuvers.  And the more different that tire is, the more the tendency to pivot.  But you probably won't notice any difference in normal driving.

So the question becomes, you much risk are you willing to accept.
