Tires: Tire Speed Ratings, tire speed ratings, oem tires

Question
Front tires on my 2005 Jag S-type have worn unevenly, so I need to replace them/have alignment adjusted.  The rear tires still have over 7/32nd tread remaining, so will keep them, but move to front.  OEM tires have 96H ratings;  tires I'm considering to purchase have 96V ratings.  Is this a problem?  Thanks.

Answer
Jim,

The standard rule is to rotate tires so they wear out evenly.  That way the vehicle will not be unbalanced front to rear.

The next rule is to put the best tires on the rear - which means the newest, or least worn, or the highest speed rating.  In your case that is all three.

However, you should be aware that the handling is not going to be optimal and caution is advised.
