Tires: Pickup Truck Tires, tire placard, truck tires

Question
Hello.  I have a Toyota Tacoma Off-Road TRD Pickup with tire size of LT 265/75R16.  I no longer drive off-road or pull my boat.  Can I downsize my tires to improve my noise level and improve fuel economy? Thanks much!

Answer
Jack,

On every vehicle sold in the US, there is a sticker – commonly called the tire placard - that lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box – but sometimes it is located in the trunk or on the fuel filler door.

Use that tire size when you shop for new tires.  But the TYPE of tire is going to be more important than the size for the things you've mentioned.  - or and be sure to pay attention to the letters in front of the tire size. "LT"'s and "P"'s are different animals.
