Tires: Air compressor tire inflateion question, tire pressure gauge, proper tire pressure

Question
RE: my Nail Gun Air Compressor
If I set the airline pressure at 32psi, and I inflate my car tire will it automatically stop inflating my car tire at 32psi, even if the tank is holding over 100 psi in it, or do I need some special regulator?
Thanks Norm

Answer
Norm,

No, you do not need a special regulator, BUT:

1)  You need to verify that the gauge on the currently regulator is reading accurately.

2)  You to be aware that the pressure regulator supplies air at a reduced pressure and will continue to add air at that reduced pressure until the pressure equalizes - which, in theory, never happens.  It only gets very, very close.

My experience is that you are further ahead to set the regulator at a significantly higher pressure and use a proper tire pressure gauge.
