Tires: tire size, dodge 2500 diesel, leveling kit

Question
QUESTION: im putting a set of 305/55-r 20 10 ply tire on my 2005 4 door dodge 2500 diesel. i dont pull alot of heavy weight maybe a 3 horse 24foot trailer with small living quarters, was wondering if this size was ok. the shorter sidewall kinda has me concerened

ANSWER: Nathan,

From a ride standpoint you are in for rough ride.  Reason, a tires ride is mostly generated in the sidewall.  I would not expect much mileage form these tires either.  Load carrying capacity will not be a problem since the tire is 10 ply.

QUESTION: thanx for the answer, should i go with a teller tire then? i have a 2 inch leveling kit on the front i dont reallyu have the money for a lift kit yet, is there a size that u would recomend,

Answer
Nathan,

I wish that I could spit out a size for you but, the 20" market has so many sizes available and is ever changing.

The best advise that I can provide you is seek a tire with a higher aspect ratio (60,65) while maintaining your load range and overall diameter.
