Tires: Tire Size, toyota corolla, season tires

Question
I have a 1999 Toyota Corolla VE 4dr. sedan with P175/65R14 61T all season tires. We live in a remote snowy area and a friend has offered me a decent set of P185/70R14 87S snow tires for next to nothing. I can find nothing specific to tire size in the owner's manual or on the vehicle chassis. Is it safe to use these tires on my car?

Answer
David,

I see no problem with using the P185/70R14.  Keep in mind that this size is taller and it that your speedometer will be affected.  Your speedometer will register slower than you are actually traveling.  Also, if the vehicle is an automatic your shift points will change.
