Tires: Viva4 tires, wheel alignment, insurance policy

Question
I had bought 80k Viva 4 Tires plus the warranty in 2004. The tread wore out with in two years. I like to note that I did have the tires rotated and balanced. The company did change these tires in 2006. Also, in 2006 I got a wheel alignment. Now when the company changed this tires that put on 60k Viva 2 tires and this tires only lasted for a year. So, I went back to the company and explained my situation about the tires not knowing that the tires where 60k Viva 2 tires instead of the 80k Viva 4 tires. The manager did change this tire in 2007 and put on the 80K. However, the tread has gone again.  I have ask them to change them again but they are saying they will not due to a bad alignment.  I am not arguing that my alignment is bad, I am saying that the tread for  these 80,000 miles should not wearing this fast! Also, I have done some research and for a employer works for the company and has bought the tires and has confirmed my thoughts about the tread on the tire. How can I get the company to help in a situation like this

Answer
Amanda,

You have to take these transactions as separate each time it happens.

So starting with the fundamentals, you should be aware that there are a lot of factors that affect treadwear.  Predicting what one individual will get for mileage on a set of tires is not possible.  So having a warranty for treadwear is kind of like an insurance policy.  It's like every time you buy a set of tires, you also bought the insurance policy.

So when the first set of tires wore out, you got a discount on the next set - that's the insurance policy part.  And that continued until the last time, where the tires also had alignment wear.  The problem is that for the insurance policy to be valid, the tires have to be evenly worn.

So you've already gotten some help from the company every time you came back with worn out tires.  In other words, you cashed in your insurance policy.  Unfortunately, this time the insurance policy does not cover your situation and while it may not seem entirely fair, it is the way those types of warranties are written.  The only thing I can suggest is to call the companies 800 number and see if they will offer some type of compromise.
