Tires: new rims for bmw, wheel bolts, wheels tires

Question
So i got new rims for my 335xi today and after i left the place i got on the highway and as i was accelerating past 100 the car started to vibrate, especially my steering wheel.. the faster i went the more it would shake, was there a problem with the installation? they're 19's on summer tires. i took it back and the guy told me its because the rims are low profile and its normal to feel that, i have a feeling it isnt. any help?

Answer
Hisham,

I suspect the problem is in the balancing.  Most BMW's have wheel bolts instead of lug nuts.  Many tire dealers do not have the proper equipment to balance these wheels properly.  The wheels on many of the European cars are balanced from the bolt holes and not the center of the rim.  I suspect that the tire dealer balanced your rims from the center.  I don't believe this to be unsafe however, for an optimum balance you would be better served to have the wheels/tires balanced at a BMW service shop or a tire dealer that has the proper equipment.
