Tires: chaging tire sizes, 17 rims, size tires

Question
I HAVE A 93 CADILLAC SEVELLE WITH 225/60/16 TIRE SIZE. I HAVE A SET OF 17IN. RIMS I WANT TO PUT ON IT.WHAT SIZE TIRES SHOULD I GO WITH FOR THESE 17IN RIMS. SO MY CAR RIDES THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSE TO.

Answer
Leron,

If you want to have the ride the same - or improve - you should not go larger in rim diameter.  This shortens the sidewall and that increases the amount of force that is transmitted to the vehicle.

However, if you want to have the 17" rims, the equivalent tire is a 235/55R17, and it requires a 6 1/2" to an 8 1/2" Rim.
