Tires: Tire Noise -2008 Mazda Tribute, bfgoodrich tires, mazda tribute

Question
At about 14,000 miles, I began to notice a lot of road noise (loud reverberating hum)when driving at highway speeds.  The noise has gotten worse - I have about 17,500 miles now and the noise is so loud it is actually painful to have to listen to it    on road trips.  Mazda told me it is "tire noise" possibly due to failure to rotate tires (that can't be the case because I have my tires rotated each time I have the oil changed).  Can it be due to tires not wearing properly and if so, what can I do about it?  Is there a particular brand of tire I should avoid?  What type of tire should I buy?  If Mazda knew about this problem, why wasn't I forewarded.

Answer
It can be a lot of things.

It can be from not having the right PSI to out of balance to out of round tire or cup tire.

It is hard to say without seeing the tire.

You need to have a tire shop look at it.

As for what I recommend,  Michelin, Uniroyal and BFGoodrich tires.
