Tires: hot weather tires, gmc envoy xl, mileage warranty

Hi Brett,
I live in Miami year round now for a few years and am noticing that my tires are wearing down very quickly.  Do the hot roads have something to do with that?  What type or brand do you recommend for South Florida heat and rain? I've noticed that some more expensive tires come with mileage warentees, any thoughts.  I drive a 2004 GMC envoy xl 6 cylinder.

 Yes, both the heat and the type of materials that Florida uses in it's asphalt do hasten tire wear.  Florida incorporates shell in it's asphalt thus creating an abrasive surface.

 Many tire manufactures offer high mileage tires along with a mileage warranty.  Unfortunately, none offers a tire that is made specifically for the type of roads that you encounter daily. When choosing a brand for your vehicle and locale I would concern myself more with the rain handling characteristics of a tire along with the mileage warranty.  As for brand recommendations my choices would come down to Toyo, Bridgestone, Maxxis or a High mileage Cooper brand.  The best "bang" for your buck you will find are the Toyo lines.
