Tires: DOT tire codes, Tire DOT Code

Question
I recently saw a 2020 undercover report on "new"tires sold in the US. I recently purchased a set of Uniroyal Liberator tires from wal-mart. The codes on the side following DOT are K4HL C72U. They are made in Mexico and these codes do not match codes of other tires made in USA.P235 75R15 is the size. I am curious to find out what the Mfg. date is. Thanks a bunch!!

Answer
Dave,

You gave me everything except the date code.  Look on the other side of the tires.  There you should find - near the letters "DOT" - the same digits but there will be 3 or 4 more numbers immediately after the 8 digits you gave me.

The date code is in a week/week/year/year format.  So a 3407 would be produced the 34th week of 2007.  (Unless the tires were produced before the year 2000, in which case there will be 3 digits and the coding would be week/week/year, so a 347 would be 34th week of 1997 or 1987 or 1977.)
