Answer
Ron,

On every vehicle sold in the US, there is a sticker - commonly called the placard - that lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size. The placard is usually ,located on a doorpost or in th glove box.  Locate the placard on your truck.  This is important, because all what we are going to do next.

If my book is correct, a 2000 Chevy 2500 came originally with .... well ....... ah ....... there are quite a few configurations and quite a few different tire setups, so we need to know what is on the placard to be sure of what to do next! But the one thing I noticed is that none of the configurations has 80 psi in the front - and maybe that is the problem.

So our next step ought to be:

If the placard says the original tire size was LT245/75R16, set all the pressure to the placard value.

If the placard says the original tirer size was LT225/75R16, then you need to set the pressure according to the placard EXCEPT you want to use 10 psi less than what the placard says.

Do that and tell me what the change is.  I'm looking for more than just better / worse / no change.  I'm looking for comments on a)  riding down a straight stretch, b)  low speed turns,  c) high speed turns, etc.  It would also be helpful if you described the amount of sway and leaning and whether it varies / oscillates / constant / or what ever it is.

Do that and post back with the results.
