Tires: Tire cured, Tire Manufacturing

Question
I worked in the manufacturing. I have a knotty problem, Tire after cured, the area the rim line or sidewall has had cracks, sometime all the way around, I have reduced tread width or increased , but it did not effect , total width of tread is narrow have cause this problem?.
(Maybe , this problem  is rubber formulary). Can you give me some ideas. Thanks

Answer
Nam,

This is going to require a number of steps.

1)  Section the tire and see if the cracks are occurring at a junction.  That should lead you to conclude that there is a problem with where the junction is, or that the junction is lifting and lube is getting between the layers.

2)  Take a silver pen and draw a diagonal line through the area where the cracks are occuring, then cure the tire and see if the diagonal is discontinous and the rubber is folding over on itself.  If so then you need to recontour the rubber in that area,

3)  Try increasing and decreasing the volume of rubber in the affected area.  I've done this by adding a layer of gum strip under the sidewall (my problem was lower sidewall cracking, your is obviously in the tread,

Word to the wise:  The spec you are building to might be the problem.  Don't be afraid to challenge the contour of the cured tire.
