Tires: proper tire pressure, proper tire inflation, wrangler renegade

Question
QUESTION: Dear Sir:

I just bought a '94 jeep wrangler, but have no manual.  I'm trying to find out the proper tire inflation.  The tires are 31x10.50 R15 LT.  Would you possibly be able to tell me the proper tire inflation?  Thanks!

ANSWER: Steve,

On every vehicle sold in the US there is a sticker - commonly called the vehicle placard that will list the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.

I need that information in order to calculate the load carrying capacity of the original tires as Jeep intended.  Then I will match that load carrying capacity on your tires.

So post back with that info, and I'll do the calculation.

QUESTION: I don't have any placard, I guess a previous owner somehow did away w/ it.  So, I found someone w/ a similar jeep and tires and got an answer.  Thank you anyway for your time, it was kind of you to reply so promptly.  Take care.

Answer
Steve,

I forgot to tell you that the placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box - but sometimes on the trunk lid or on the fuel filler door.  You should look for it before you refer to my answer below, becuase sometimes my book doesn't have the correct information and the placard is more likely to be  the correct answer..

In 1994 there were several versions of the Jeep Wrangler:

The Wrangler Renegade came with 29X9.50R15's inflated to 28 psi  front 32 rear.

The Wrangler S came with P205/75R15's inflated to 28 psi front 32 psi rear.

Then there were some optional tires for the S. SE, and Sahara version:

P215/75R15 inflated to 28 psi front 32 psi rear and P225/75R15's inflated to 28 psi front and 32 psi rear.
